Geocaching begins

This all started a few weeks ago when Catherine and I got our car GPS unit. In going ot the manufactures website to update the maps I saw a link for Geocaching. In looking at the site I thought it might be a fun thing to do, kind of a mix between adventures, and treasure hunting with a high tech twist. So a couple of Sundays ago we set off for our first finds.

We left the house around 11 in the morning so that we could grab our starbucks, and get started. We started our hunt with very simple finds we thought. The first one we came to was supposed to be hidden on a mountain side close to our local observatory. After searching for almost half an hour we gave up on that one, and decided to move on.

The next one that we went go looking for we were unable to find also. This time though the area was closed off due to work being done at the park that kept us from it. We did however go to the local information center and got a really nice map of the trails in the area. We figured this would come in handy on later adventures that we will be having. Then next cache we went for was at the local Merry-Go-Round. There were a lot of people around which meant even if we found it we couldnt get to it. That didnt stop us from figuring out its location. We decided its beter to come back and grab it another time.

After that it was off to the next cache we went. For this one we had to take off to Travel Town. We were able to find this one without much difficulty. It was a nice little find I must say. The swag wasnt all that great, but who cares. We got to finally sign a log book. Yay for us. We ended up trading a little linus swag piece for a Japanese phone charm I had. Then it was off to the next one, and last one for the day.

This one led us away from the park to a local bridge to go search. After getting there we looked all around the bridge, and just wasnt able to find it at all. We must have spent a good 15 to 20 minutes looking for it. I am sure other passers by must have thought we looked weird searching a bridge. We didnt care though. But to no avail we were unable to locate the cache. That was the end of our journey that day.
